Rotary Multi-Tool: redefining offshore operations

Transocean and NOS Service partnered together to develop the Rotary Multi-Tool (RMT). The RMT is installed below the rotary table on the drill floor and automates pipe-wiping, washing, and hole-covering tasks. That automation removes people from the red zone and eliminates the need to manually install and remove pipe-wiping discs and c-plates.​

Milestone achieved!  We’ve just surpassed 200,000 ft. of pipe tripped offshore in Norway using the Rotary Multi-Tool (RMT) with the wiper assembly closed. Over the last two wells, the tool provided a 26-hour reduction in red-zone exposure for our crews and a 20-hour reduction in critical-path time.​

Developed with and supplied by NOS Service AS, the RMT is transforming how the offshore works -enhancing safety measures and driving operational efficiency while maintaining well integrity.​
